Sharing my story
I was born in England but grew up in the beautiful Okanagan. I was always an athletic and competitive kid. Sports and games were the only things that could get me out of my quiet shell. I was often picked on for being tall, having curly hair, being super quiet, and being not nearly as outgoing as my other family members. This brought on all sorts of anxiety and self-image issues throughout life. My saving grace however was movement. I always felt free in my body and sports were my outlet for all my emotions. In fact, I got the honor of playing field hockey at a provincial level and still play multiple sports to this day!
A few months after my 20th birthday I became very sick, and that's when I really saw how important this practice was to me. For 18 long months, my body became my enemy and I had no way to express my passion, chase my dreams, or fight for what I believed in. Once cleared for movement again I shifted my focus back to fitness, primarily Pilates, not only did I improve my body, but I started to feel amazing. Feeling strong in my body put me back in control and lit a fire inside of my soul that got me thinking about new possibilities for life. I wanted to show others that they, too, had the power to change, fight their fears, and feel freedom within their bodies, so I dedicated the next 6 years to educating myself on all things fitness, movement, mental health, coaching, and fear conquering.
In these past 6 years, I have had so many new curiosities, from neuroscience, postnatal movement, and gymnastics, to mobility training. I have learned a heck of a lot about self-love, biomechanics, training programs, protecting your energy, and doing whatever it takes to just bloody go for it! I have been personally selected for mentorship programs by elite instructors, and have trained with coaches from all over the world. I’ve had epic failures, injuries, miracles, hardships, and bliss. I know how hard it can be at times to keep moving forward. But real change can only happen if you never give up. So I never did. I chose to keep getting up after life’s beatdowns (with the help of my beautiful friends, and family!). I’ve conquered mountains, faced fears, had some powerful wins, and had some soul-freeing moments of gratitude.

Katya Farmer is an expert and forever learner in the field of fitness, pilates, and transformational work. She started as a provincial athlete, sports therapist, and fitness enthusiast, and grew into an adult athlete, Classical Pilates instructor (NCPT), Yoga instructor, Group fitness instructor, Gymnastics coach, and Studio owner. Katya offers carefully curated classes and workshops to promote sustainable health, spiritual well-being, and fitness freedom. Katya has helped people reach their personal and professional movement goals through her programs and elite coaching. Using her knowledge, unique coaching methods, and programs, she has helped countless people connect with their soul, transform their bodies, empower their minds, gain unstoppable confidence, and fall in love with themselves and their lives.
Throughout her career, Katya has regularly continued her learning through international workshops, conferences, self-study, and movement festivals. Katya is also mentored and coached by elite instructors from Canada, the USA, Australia, and the UK. When Katya isn’t in the studio you can find her horseback riding, hiking, paddle boarding, skiing, playing sports, and enjoying everything the Okanagan has to offer.
